We’ve been getting a lot of questions about the new Techo International Airport, so here’s the latest as of August 5, 2025.
The big news is… the opening date is still set for September 9, 2025. According to Cambodia Airport Investment Co., Ltd. (CAIC), construction is officially 100% complete. This will be Cambodia’s newest and largest airport, and from the photos we’ve seen, it’s a beautiful addition to the country’s travel hubs.
Just a few days ago, a traditional Buddhist ceremony was held at the airport, something similar to a housewarming event, but for a major new building. It’s a sign that preparations for the opening are moving forward.
One thing worth noting is that Techo International Airport is farther from Phnom Penh city than the current Phnom Penh International Airport. Travel costs and transport options haven’t been officially announced yet. We don’t know the exact taxi or tuk tuk fares, and there’s no confirmation yet about public transportation services.
If you’re planning to fly in or out after the opening, make sure to factor in extra travel time from the city to the airport. We’ll keep you posted on transport options, fares, and any new developments as we hear more.
