Phnom Penh is getting a brand-new airport soon!
According to multiple sources, the new Techo International Airport (TIA) is set to officially open on July 10, 2025. This major upgrade will replace the current Phnom Penh International Airport. So if you're planning a trip to Cambodia this summer, be sure to double-check your arrival airport — and make sure your pickup knows where to go!
📍 Where is it?
Techo International Airport is located about 30 to 40 kilometers south of Phnom Penh, in parts of Kandal and Takeo provinces. Unlike the current airport, which is relatively close to the city center, the new one is farther out — and on the opposite side of town.
How to get to the city from TIA
Right now, it’s pretty easy to grab a taxi or tuk tuk from the existing airport into the city. But with TIA being farther away, it’s still unclear whether the government will introduce shuttle buses or other transport options. (We’ll keep you updated once we know more!)
